Woman burned alive at Kurukshetra Hotel; 1 injured: The Tribune India
Kurukshetra, July 22
A woman was burned to death, while a youth suffered severe burns after a fire broke out in a hotel room in Kurukshetra this evening.
The deceased was identified as Rita (29), a resident of Arjun Nagar, Kaithal; and the injured is Sonu (22), a resident of Taragarh village, Kaithal.
The youngster had booked the room at 9 o’clock. The woman arrived later that day.
According to reports, a fire broke out in room number 202 of the Krishna Mahal hotel in Kurukshetra.
Hotel staff noticed smoke coming from the room, but found it locked from the inside. Staff had to force open the door to extinguish the flames.
The youngster was rushed to LNJP Hospital in critical condition from where he was referred to PGI, Chandigarh.
The doctor on duty said Sonu suffered 90-95% burns.
DSP Subhash Chandra said: “The youth and the woman belonged to Kaithal. Hotel staff informed us that the room was locked from the inside and they had to break down the door to put out the flames. The woman died and the youngster is undergoing treatment with IGP. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. »
