US concerned about any country exercising with Russia: White House: The Tribune India
Washington, August 31
The United States is concerned about any country conducting an exercise with Russia that has waged an unprovoked and brutal war against Ukraine, the White House said Tuesday.
He said this in response to a question about a multinational military exercise – called Vostok 2022 – from September 1-7 in Russia that would be attended by, among others, India and China.
It will be the first large-scale multinational military exercise in Russia since the start of its offensive in Ukraine.
“The United States is concerned that any country is exercising with Russia while Russia is waging a brutal, unprovoked war against Ukraine. But, of course, each participating country will make its own decisions. And I I’ll leave it at that,” White House Press said. Secretary Karen Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard Air Force One.
When specifically asked why “not put pressure on India”, Jean-Pierre said: “My first sentence is to say that we have concerns about any country exercising with Russia while the Russia is waging this unprovoked war.”
When the reporter further asked if the U.S. plans to take any action or do anything about it, the press secretary said, “I have nothing else to share.”
“But we have – we have been quite public – I have been asked this question with other countries as well, and we have been quite consistent in our – in our statements.”
