Despite the scorching heat, large numbers of people, including women, youths and children, from the area came to watch Sidhu Moosewala’s ‘antim ardas’ and ‘bhog’ ceremony at the grain market here.

From wearing T-shirts with pictures of Sidhu Moosewala printed on them with the message “Legends never die” to many children dressing like him, thousands of people gathered in Mansa to witness the “bhog of the singer.

Many people also carried posters reading “black day on May 29” and “Moosewala amar rahe” and demanding “justice for Moosewala”. Some carried flags with photos of the singer.

Moosewala fan Ranjit Singh from Sonepat said, “I still can’t believe Sidhu Moosewala is gone.” He was sad that no arrests had been made so far.

Another fan, Mukul from Hoshiarpur said, “He is here to pay tribute to his legend who wrote and sang many hit songs.”

Goldy Brar, a Canadian-based member of the Bishnoi gang, had claimed responsibility for the murder.

This murder was in retaliation for the murder of the young leader of Akali, Vicky Middukhera, which took place last year.
