NSS camp at Patara village of Jalandhar : The Tribune India
Jalandhar: A seven-day camp for villagers’ health protection was organized in Patara village by the NSS wing of PCM SD College for Women. About 450 volunteers participated in the camp, during which awareness was created among the villagers regarding their health and masks were distributed to them keeping in mind Covid-19 precautions. The cleanliness campaign was also organized by the volunteers for the villagers. The villagers also received information on nutritious foods so that they can stay healthy. The village chief Satpal Bandhan encouraged volunteers for these activities.
Covid Vaccination Camp
Sanskriti KMV School on Wednesday held a Covid-19 vaccination camp on the school campus for students in the 15-18 age group. Around 200 students visited the campus and were vaccinated during the first phase of the camp as part of the setup organized by the Health Department of Jalandhar Civil Hospital. A full disinfection and social distancing process was followed. Rachna Monga, Director, assessed the status of the camp and the encouraging response from parents for having their wards immunized.
India Skills Competition-2022
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) has organized the “Indian Skills Competition 2022” at regional and national levels to discover skills-based talents in all the countries. For this, 2.5 lakh students had registered to achieve and win the national level competition. Three engineering students from Lovely Professional University (LPU) have qualified nationally to enter the 46th Global Skills Competition-2022, to be held in Shanghai, China. Known as the “Skills Olympics”, this largest event of excellence in vocational and skills education reflects global industry benchmarks. Three qualified LPU students include silver medalist Pankaj G, who hails from Bengaluru. The other two bronze medalists are Gagan Bisen from Madhya Pradesh and Logesh B from Tamil Nadu. A total of 270 medal winners and medallions from this year’s India Skills competition will now undergo rigorous training in preparation for final selection to represent India in the five-day World Skills competition to be held from 12-17 October in China. At this international event in China, more than 1,400 young professionals, representing 83 countries and regions, will gather to compete in 60 skills. The event will take place at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center.
Menstrual Health Training
Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya’s Student Welfare Department organized an online training session on Menstrual Health and Hygiene for students and faculty of science under the leadership of Senior Professor Ajay Sareen. This session was organized in collaboration with Unicharm India, a leading Japanese company in India and its training partner, Global Hunt Foundation based in Bangalore. The resource person for the session was Nitya Chaudhary, CSR Manager, Unicharm India. Nitya gave a detailed overview of the what, when, why and how of the menstrual phase to educate students on hygiene practices to adopt during menstruation. The training session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.
