It’s one more chance to get together with the community before the kids go back to school.

Village of Hope is hosting an open house on Thursday, August 25 from 4-7 p.m. at its new location at 2540 South Service Rd. in Jordan. The event will include live music, food trucks and a silent auction.

The agency will be collecting donations to help support its back-to-school program during the open house. Client families will pick up their back-to-school packages on August 29 and 30. Packages include backpacks and school supplies.

Executive Cheryl Keddy Scott said this year each package will include a voucher for First Choice Haircutters, allowing children to ensure they look their best when they start school. “We really try to work alongside everyone, we have to work together as a community,” she said.

Their school snack program will also resume when children return to class. It provides weekly boxes of healthy snacks to families.

Village of Hope will also host a Tim Hortons Career Fair on Monday, August 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Keddy Scott said it’s a great opportunity for many.

Food drives are also scheduled for August 20 at Cherry Hill and August 27 at Heritage Village. A food drive on the porch will also take place that day.
