Jalandhar, April 22

The Municipal Corporation served a show cause notice on the Inderprasth Hotel in Jalandhar regarding illegal construction on adjoining land. The MC’s notice states that the construction will be razed within the next three days if the hotel owners do not demolish it themselves.

Although the order mentions that a notice was also served on the hotel in November last year, said illegal constructions have not been demolished and illegal structures currently exist on the site.

The notice issued by the Deputy Town Planner on April 20, 2022 to the hotel owner states: “Whereas a notice under Section 269 (I) of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act 1976 has given you been served in Form No. 27/102 dated 11/26/21 to explain why the demolition order for the building located at the above address measuring 2,000 square feet of land of unauthorized constructions of steel structure and shutter attachment should not be adopted because the erection of the shutter had been carried out, without the required sanction in contravention of the sanctioned plan.

Although a reasonable possibility was given by the office, it seems that you have no explanation for this construction. MC leader Karsnesh Sharma said: “A chaupati-like structure is known to appear on the plot about which notice has been served.” Municipal planner Meharban Singh said: “The hotel offers sheds and other structures on the land adjoining it. These are illegal structures for which notice has already been served. If the structures are not dismantled by the hotel, we will serve a demolition order following which the structures will be razed.
