A 24-year-old man was killed and five others injured in a group clash between two sides in the Deeg village of Kaithal. The clash took place for the possession of a piece of land.

The deceased was identified as Ankit from Pabnawa, who worked at Jagdev Singh’s liquor store. The injured are Dhanpat Singh, Hoshiar Singh, Hirke Ram, Rajiv and Silo Devi.

Dhanpat alleged that Jagdev and others attacked them while working in the fields. Ankit’s uncle, Rajbir Singh, said he received a call that his nephew had been injured. They took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He said they were unaware of the incident, but people told them a group clash took place in which several people were injured.

Shiv Kumar, head of the Pundri police station, said he registered two FIRs on the two groups’ counter complaints. Six people were arrested for murder and 50 others were arrested for attempted murder and other sections of the IPC.
