Eagles return to Pittsburgh with ‘Hotel California’ tour
Legendary rock band The Eagles extend their 2022 “Hotel California” tour, adding a concert date for March 26 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
The band will perform their iconic album “Hotel California” in its entirety with an orchestra and choir, followed by a set of hits.
Tickets go on sale January 14 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.com. A limited number of VIP packages will also be available.
This particular incarnation of the Eagles includes Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, along with Deacon Frey and Vince Gill.
“Hotel California” is the third best-selling American album in history, having been certified 26 times Platinum by the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA). After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and won several Grammy Awards. Several of the songs on the album have not been performed since the original “Hotel California” tour.
Produced by Live Nation, the tour capitalizes on a popular trend featuring great bands performing full versions of popular albums. Beach Boys founding members Brian Wilson and Al Jardine performed the band’s groundbreaking album “Pet Sounds” in full at the Benedum Center in 2016.
Reviews of the “Hotel California” tour have been positive with Billboard to say that the songs have aged well.
“But how could they have failed with the five-part harmony and the five-guitar approach of the Eagles. … (Henley’s) voice sounded as loud and supple as ever, easily reaching the highest notes, while still retaining its characteristic hoarse, ”the reviewer said.
The Eagles were the best-selling US group of the 1970s with six number one albums and five chart-topping songs including “Best of my Love”, “One of these Nights”, “New Kid In Town”, “Hotel California “And” Heartache tonight “.
The group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, its first year of eligibility.
