Description

Updated 12-2-24: This rare and highly sought-after JAN GE long gray plate 12AX7 vacuum tube is made in the United States to Military (JAN) specifications and is a genuine piece of vintage electronics history. This GE tube from 1963 (date code is 63-22 and is located above the location code 188-5 for Kentucky) is perfect for use in vintage audio equipment. Its model number is 12AX7 (not a 12AX7A or WA, or 5751) and provides full bodied sound with the highs rolled off slightly (it sounds very good in my McIntosh MA-230). It tests very good at 1560 on both halves on my calibrated TV-3, so is very well balanced. The minimum good is 950. The 3rd photo shows the 3 sets of codes. I'm told by a very knowledgeable person that these tubes are great for guitar amps. If you do a WEB search on 'jan ge 12ax7', you will see many positive comments about its great sound.
