Description
Up for sale is a bunch of 5686 tubes. I won these in a Gov't auction in the 90s and they have sat on a shelf ever since. Unused New Old Stock, all but one made by General Electric dated May and June 1978. There is also one Raytheon tube, undated. First come first served on manufacturer choice. Priced singly. Flat $3.00 shipping for the first one, add 50 cents for each additional tube. Good chance to stock up at half retail price. From googling around: The 5686 is a special quality pentode. It can be used as a Class A audio amplifier to give 2.7 Watts single ended or a Class C RF amplifier up to 160 MHz where the output is just over five Watts. Can also be used in push pull applications. The cathode and grid3 pins are shielded. The control grid is wound on copper supports for good heat transfer. The thin glass tube envelope is 21 mm in diameter, and excluding the B9A base pins is 47 mm tall. Reference: Data-sheet. Type 5686 was first introduced in 1952 This tube has the same pinout as the EL84
