Man and woman injured on Thanksgiving Day at a shooting in a hotel in Goleta both died of their injuries, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

“This is an apparent murder-suicide, and detectives do not believe there are any other suspects pending,” said Raquel Zick, chief information officer for the sheriff on Friday.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. Thursday at the Best Western Hotel at 5620 Calle Real.

MPs responding to a report of unrest at the hotel discovered the couple were both suffering from gunshot wounds, Zick said.

Where at the hotel the shots took place and other details were not disclosed.

The two were taken to hospital, where the man was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, and the woman died around four hours later, Zick said.

Investigators believe the man shot the woman before turning the gun on him.

The names of the deceased and their mutual relations have not been disclosed pending notification of relatives.

“The coroner’s inquest which will determine the official cause and mode of death is scheduled for next week,” Zick added.
